It is pretty amazing that you can help others by just

8/5/10 - Thank you all for your continued prayers for me and my family! Dad is doing really well right now and
has Physicdal Therapy (PT) at home and is using a cane to walk with. Now for an update on my Mom. After years
of thinking that Mom had Essential Tremor she had an appointment with a new specialist this past Tuesday and he
told us that she indeed has Parkinson's Disease not ET. So that is pretty overwhelming. He changed Mom's
medications and she likes the doctor and he explains things and listens to her. So they are trying her on a new PD
(Parkinson's Disease) medication for a month and then she goes back to see him. Hopefully by putting her on a PD
medication we will see some improvement in the tremors. And we now understand why she was having trouble with
her voice and people not being able to hear and understand her when she was speaking. That was because of the
PD too. Mom asked if PT might be helpful for her and he agreed so they will set up her first assesment
appointment for physical therapy. Please pray that Mom can tolerate this new medication because she has had a
lot of different problems with some medications in the past. I had my first year recheck appointment for the
Retina Tears in my eye so they eye looks really good. About the double vision... well if it continues to get worse
or be every day I need to call and he will set up a referral for me to a different eye specialist.
So, thank you so much for your continued prayers and encouragement. Just knowing you are praying is
comforting! History - It was about three years that Dad had quadruple bypass surgery and an endarterectomy.
Then he had the surgery to repair his torn rotary cuff in his right shoulder in 6/09 and has had many small
strokes since then. Dad still has the blockage in the other side of the neck and the blockage in the basillary
artery but they are pretty much controlled by medication now. We had Hospice Home Health which was a huge
blessing. They really made a huge difference and he improved so much that they discharged him back to his
doctor and a small amount of PT at home. We now know that Hospice Home Card is there if we need them. Most
people don't realize that Hospice is not just for those people that are ready to pass away quickly. You can stop
hospice care if your condition improves and restart if needed. You can learn more about Hospice at Find a Local
Hospice or check out the Frequently Asked Questions page. Mom is still dealing with essential tremor so please be
praying about that for her. She is Dad's caregiver right now and that makes it harder for her.
