~Psalms 14:1~

Welcome Sign

An April Fool is defined as: "One who is sportively imposed upon by others on the first day of April."

Websters Dictionary defines a fool as: 1. One destitute of reason, or of the common powers or understanding; an idiot, a natural. 2. A person deficient in intellect, one who acts absurdly, or pursues a course contrary to the dictates of wisdom, one without judgment; a simpleton; a dolt. 3 One who acts contrary to moral and religious wisdon; a wicked person. 4. One who counterfeits folly; a professional jester or buffoon, a retainer formerly kept to make sport, dressed fantastically in motley, with ridiculous accouterments.

Let's look and see what the Scriptures say about the word "FOOL".

the wisdom of thy

fool than of him."

"For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice [is known] by multitude of words."
~Ecclesiastes 5:3~

"A fool also is full of words: a man cannot tell what shall be; and what shall be after him, who can tell him?"
~Ecclesiastes 10:14~

"The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none that doeth good."
~Psalm 53:1~

What does the Bible say?

Even our words, let alone our actions make an impact on others. Our personal relationship with the Lord is evident and shown by our fruits, words, and actions.

"The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful. The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good. He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good;
he abhorreth not evil."
~Psalms 36: 1-4~

"The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords."
~Psalm 55:21~

"Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer."
~Psalms 19:14~

"Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts [are] against me for evil."
~Psalm 56:5~

"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he
that refraineth his lips [is] wise."
~Proverbs 10:19~

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."
~Proverbs 15:1~

"The thoughts of the wicked [are] an abomination to the LORD: but [the
words] of the pure [are] pleasant words."
~Proverbs 15:26~

"Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul,
and health to the bones."
~Proverbs 16:24~

"He that hath knowledge spareth his words:
[and] a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit."
~Proverbs 17:27~

April Fools' Day, or All Fools' Day
, is the first day of April is traditional day for playing pranks on unsuspecting people. In many countries, including the United States, it is the custom on this day to play tricks on people. A favorite joke is to send someone on a fool's errand, a search for something that does not exist. In the United States, the victim is called an April Fool.

No one knows where the April Fools' custom began. The origin uncertain but may be related to arrival of spring in late March, when nature is said to "fool" humanity with changes in weather; another explanation has to do with the change to the Gregorian calendar in 1582, which moved New Year's Day to Jan. 1; those who were unaware of the change or too conservative to break tradition celebrated on April 1, the last day of the old 8-day New Year's festival; tradition in France (where victim is called "April fish") and Great Britain; introduced into America in colonial times; favorite gags include sending someone on impossible errand and running harmless fibs in the media; when person grows confused or realizes he is being tricked, the joker calls out "April Fool!"; in France, people stick cutout paper fish on another's back or send them anonymously in the mail.

But some historians believe it may have started in France. There, the old New Year's festival was observed from March 25 to April 1 and ended with an exchange of gifts. In the mid-1560's, King Charles IX changed the New Year to January 1. People who still celebrated the New Year in April were called April fish and sent mock presents. April Fools' Day may be related to the ancient Roman spring festival Hilaria, which celebrates
the resurrection of the god Attis.

Instead of playing April Fool's Tricks on people lets try to do:

"An Act of Kindness"

"A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a
broken spirit drieth the bones."
~Proverbs 17:22~

Websters Dictionary defines "kindness" as: 1. The state or qualify of being kind, in any of its various sense; manifestation of kind feelinf or disposition beneficence. 2. A kind act; an act of good will; as, to do a great kindness.

These are synonym's of kindness: Good will; benignity; grace; tenderness; compassion; humanity; clemency; mildness; gentleness;
goodness; generosity; beneficence; favor.

When I read this is reminded me of the fruit of the spirit:

Galatians 5:22-26 " But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another."

Here are some ways to encourage and uplift others.

  • Call a friend and tell them how much they mean to you
  • become a "secret pal"
  • send a greeting card with scripture verses in them, and maybe a bookmark
  • If you are going to the store check and see if your neighbor needs anything
  • send a free email greeting card from Annie's Card Shop

Lets change this date to:
"An Act of Kindness Day"

"They will know we are Christians by our LOVE by our LOVE.
Yes they'll know we are Christians by our LOVE."

Now let me confirm that laughter and a merry heart are good medicine. It
takes more muscles to frown then to smile. Some say that the more we frown
the more wrinkles we get. Some say you get laugh lines.
