"Why do you have pages about
the Jewish Feasts?" Page
"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or
drink, or with regard to a religious festival,
a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of
the things that were to come;
the reality, however, is found in Messiah."
~Col 2:16-17~
Why do you have pages about the
Jewish Feasts?
Aren't you a Christian?
Yes
I am a Christian. I believe that the WHOLE Bible is the inspired
word of God. Jesus himself read and
studied the books of the Old Testament. Jesus was Jewish. He
studied the scriptures and was often found in the
Temple with the teachers reading, teaching and talking about the
law. He quoted the Old Testament many
times. His birth, life, death and resurrection have fulfilled
many different prophecies in the Bible.
SO
many Christian's do not even know about the 7 feasts of the Bible
and what ones have been literally fulfilled.
The feasts play a critical part if Bible Prophecy. Four of the
feasts have LITERALLY been fulfilled. We still
have not see The Feast of Trumpets fulfilled. One day soon we
will hear the last trumpet blown.
Jesus came not to condemn the Law but to FULFILL it.
Jesus
said: "Do
not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the
Prophets; I have not come to
abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth,
until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest
letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means
disappear from the Law until everything is
accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these
commandments and teaches others to do the
same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but
whoever practices and teaches these commands will
be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you
that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the
Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly
not enter the kingdom of heaven."
~Matthew
5:17-20~
Jesus told the disciples that more must be done before His return.
Luke
24:44 "And he said unto them, These are
the words which
I spake unto you, while I was yet with you,
that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law
of Moses, and in the prophets,
and in the psalms, concerning me."
Jesus
celebrated the feasts with his disciples. I am not saying that we
as Christian believers should or should not
celebrate the feasts because that is entirely up to you. If you
choose to celebrate them then it should be done
as a beleiver with the focus on the future and return of the
Lord. If we are without the knowledge of the
Temple and the Feasts we can not fully understand the New
Testament.
So
lets get started and learn about the feasts.

What are the High Feasts and Festivals of Judaism?
In Judaism, the most sacred festivals are Rosh Ha-Shanah, the Jewish New Year; and Yom
Kippur, the Day of Atonement. According to Jewish tradition, people are judged on Rosh
Ha-Shanah for their deeds of the past year. On Yom Kippur, Jews fast, express their regret
for past sins, and declare their hope to perform good deeds during the coming year.
Many Jewish festivals commemorate major events in Jewish history. For example, Passover
celebrates the Exodus of the Jews from Egypt. Hanukkah is a celebration of a Jewish victory over
the Syrians in 165 BC. Purim honors the rescue of the Jews of Persia (now Iran) from a plot to kill
them. Jews celebrate these festivals both in synagogues and at home."

What are the "High Holidays"?
The
High Holidays, called Rosh Ha-Shanah and Yom Kippur, are the most
sacred days of the Jewish year. Like all
Jewish holidays, they occur on different dates each year because
they are based on the Hebrew calendar. The
High Holidays come during Tishri, the first month of the Hebrew
calendar, which usually falls in September or
October. (See Annie's New Years Page to learn about the Jewish
Calendar)
Rosh Ha-Shanah, the Jewish New Year, begins on the first day of
Tishri and lasts two days. It celebrates the
creation of the world and God's rule over it. According to Jewish
tradition, people are judged on Rosh Ha-Shanah
for their deeds of the past year. The chief symbol is the shofar,
a ram's horn that is sounded during the holiday
worship.
Rosh Ha-Shanah begins the Ten Days of Penitence, which end on Yom
Kippur, the Day of Atonement. On Yom
Kippur, Jews fast and express their regret for bad deeds during
the past year and their hope to perform good
deeds in the coming year. The day is observed mainly through
synagogue worship. ~Source Encarta Encyclopedia~

The
time is so very short. Remember that we are to be found faithful
and watching for the Lord's return.
Seek the Lord while He may be found. Continue to pray and read
the scriptures.
God still speaks to us today. Listen for His still small voice.
