Annie's Signs in the Sky Page

"And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call." ~~Joel 2:30-32~~

Did you know that before the Lord's mighty return there will be definite signs in the heavens? Jesus tells us that there will be
"signs in the sky" to tell us of His return.

Do you know the "signs of the times"?
Do you know what to look for?

Keep looking up. The time is short and the hour late!!

Do you know what will happen?
Do you know how to read or understand what they mean?
Even if we can't understand we can trust that the Lord knows all the answers.

"The heavens declare the glory of God;
and the firmament showeth his handiwork."
~Psalms 19:1~

In the next few months there will be some very noticable events in the skies. I feel that as Christian's we need to know what is to be expected and to have the answers to the questions that we will be asked. People seem to be curious and interested more and more about "The End Times" or "The End of the World".

"And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red
and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky;
but can ye not discern the signs of the times?"
~Matthew 16:3~

What a wonderful opportunity we have to share the Lord God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth with those who are curious and frightened. The Bible does talk about "eclipses" and "things falling from the sky". But do you know where to find them?

There are THREE major special events that will happen in the sky in the next few weeks. A SOLAR ECLIPSE, a COMET passing by and a PLANET ALIGNMENT.

On August 11th, 1999 there will be a solar eclipse. It is the last one for the 20th century. The Bible tells us that the Sun will go dark before the Lord's return. Is this the same thing?

In July the comet named Lee will be passing very close to the earth. And there will be a 4 planet alignment in the form of a cross. What do all these events mean? Is it in the Bible?

What does Chapter 12 of Revelations have to do with the sky and astronomy?

Many people are talking about the Quatraines that Nostradamas wrote. Especially the one that predicted something will happen in the sky in the seventh month of 1999. Will it come true? What is his record for his predictions? Should we as Christian's believe in predictions?

The Bible tells us that in the last days our sons will dream dreams and our daughters will have visions. Can anyone predict the future? Does Bible prophecy tell us what to expect and when we should be looking for it?

"Christ’s disciples asked him, "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? The Saviour then proceeded to describe those world events which would both indicate His return and culminate in the Day of the Lord."
~Matthew 24:3~

Does the Torah reading give us any indication of what might happen?
Could the rapture or the Lord's return be the result of these heavenly events? Are the events there to WARN us of what is to come?
How does Bible Prophecy fit into all this?

There are so many questions to ask. So many things to ponder. I don't have all the answers. NO ONE DOES!!! We may THINK that we know for certain how the end times will unfold but we MUST ALWAYS remember that we can't be 100% certain what will happen. If the Bible had one special chapter that listed dates and events then we could be certain. But Prophecy is like putting a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle together. To learn more about the End Times visit Annie's End Times Page.

Don't be discouraged or afraid. The Lord created the Heavens and the Earth and He knows the Future from the Past. He will protect His children. The Bible promises us that.

These "signs in the sky" give us a wonderful opportunity to share our faith with others. People may ask you why you are not "afraid" of what might happen. Do you know what your answer would be if you were asked? If someone asked you how they could become a Christian do you know how to lead them to the Lord?

"But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"
~1 Peter 3:15~

"He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down."
~Psalm 104:19~

What is a Comet?

"Comet, pronounced KAHM iht, is an icy body that normally travels around the sun in a long, oval orbit. A comet consists of a solid nucleus (center), a cloudy atmosphere called a coma, and one or two tails. The nucleus resembles a dirty snowball. It is made of ices of various kinds and of rocky dust particles that are stuck in the ices. When the comet approaches the sun, some of the surface ices vaporize. The resulting gases and the particles that were stuck in the ices fly away from the sun, forming the coma and the tails. Depending on whether the nucleus has a great deal of dust, a comet can have a dust tail, a gas tail, or both.

Most comets have a nucleus that measures about 10 miles (16 kilometers) or less across. The comas of some comets reach diameters of nearly 1 million miles (1.6 million kilometers). Some tails extend to distances of 100 million miles (160 million kilometers).

Most comets can be seen only with a telescope. Some are visible to the unaided eye, but only for the several weeks when they pass closest to the sun. We can see comets because the dust in their comas and tails reflects sunlight. Also, their gases release energy they absorbed from the sun, causing them to shine."
~Source: The World Book Encyclopedia~

Has a comet ever hit a planet?
"Most known comets travel in elongated orbits about the sun. These orbits cross the almost circular orbits of the planets. As a result, comets sometimes run into planets and their satellites. In July 1994, for example, a comet named Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with the planet Jupiter. Cometary collisions caused many of the craters on satellites of the outer planets, and on some of the inner planets and Earth's moon."
~Source The World Book Encyclopedia~

Is there a comet coming that will be visible in 1999?

Yes we are watching for the "Comet Lee".

Are comets mentioned in the Bible?
Comets are not mentioned specifically as "comets" but there are verses that describe what we would consider a comet. "Falling Stars" is just one example. They are thought to be "warnings" of some foreboding event. Comet Lee will be closest to the earth the 9th-11th of September. Rosh Hashanah is just a few days later on September 11th.

What is Ancient Astronomy?
Astronomy is the study of the stars. Many ancient civilations studied the stars. Even the magi in the Bible we are told studied the stars. So Ancient Astronomy studies the use of the use of stars by old civilations.

What about Nostradamus's prediction about July 1999?
As a Christian I am not advocating belief in Nostradamus's work and or his predictions. BUT I do believe that we need to be aware of what is going on in the world around us. Indeed, we are "in the world" but are not to be "of the world". You will want to check to see what the Bible tells us about similar situations in the sky or other prophetic events. People are curious and asking questions. Do you have any answers? God has shown us so much. His word is full of the signs and wonders that we are to be expecting. Remember "to whom much is given much is required". Seize this opportunity. Use it for the GLORY and HONOR of God.

Is the 7th month really July?
I read an article recently that debated whether the "7th" month in the quatraine may indeed not be July but September. They mentioned that the Gregorian was not the only calendar in use at the time. Nostradamus was also using the Julian Calendar so his dates don't correspond with our calendar (the Gregorian). We know that "sept" in french means 7. I have also heard debated that "sept" might be an abbreviation of "september" or might even be the "7" month of the Jewish calendar which coincides with the month of September.

Quatrain X72:
"In 1999 and seven months
From the sky will descend a great terrifying King
Who will resuscitate the great King ANGOLMOIS
Before and after, Mars reigns by good luck."

In the Original French:
"L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois,
Du ciel viendra un grand Roy d'effrayeur:
Resusciter le grand Roy d'Angolmois,
Auvant apres Mars regner par bon-heur."

The World Book Encyclopedia tells us this about Nostradamus: "Nostradamus, pronounced nahs truh DAY muhs (1503-1566), was the Latin name of Michel de Notredame, a French astrologer and physician. His fame rests on his book Centuries (1555), a series of prophecies in verse. Nostradamus won lasting fame in 1559 when King Henry II of France died in a manner predicted in the Centuries.

Nostradamus was born in St.-Remy, in southern France. He earned a doctor's degree in 1532, and became a professor at the University of Montpellier. The success of Centuries gained him an appointment as court physician to King Charles IX of France. He also became an adviser to Catherine de Medicis, wife of King Henry II of France.

Nostradamus' prophecies are vague and open to interpretation. One published in 1921 seemed to predict World War II (1939-1945). During that war, the Nazis issued their own versions of Nostradamus's prophecies to convince the German people and their European enemies of the Nazis' ultimate victory."

What does the Bible tell us about numbers?
Numbers in the Bible have certain specific meanings and are often repeated many different times. Seven for example is a "perfect" number and is use many times in the Book of Revelations. 6 is the number of man. 666 is the number of thebeast or antichrist.
Smith's Bible Dictionary has two pages you should look at Number & Numbers.

Do the Jewish Feast Days have any significance to the upcoming signs in the skies?
In the month of September the major Jewish Fall Feasts begin. There are 7 total major feasts annually. The first 4 Feasts have been literally fulfilled. So we can expect the last 3 to be fulfilled also. Many historic events and occurances have happened on the Jewish Feast Days. There may be much more significance to the special days then we are aware of currently. "Av 9" is another significant date in the history of Israel. It falls in the month of July this year - 1999.

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
~1 Corinthians 13:12~

Visit Annie's Feasts of the Bible Page for more information about the feasts and their fulfillment.

"In Judaism, the most sacred festivals are Rosh Ha-Shanah, the Jewish New Year; and Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. According to Jewish tradition, people are judged on Rosh Ha-Shanah for their deeds of the past year. On Yom Kippur, Jews fast, express their regret for past sins, and declare their hope to perform good deeds during the coming year." ~Source: The World Book Encyclopedia~

What happens when the planets align?
A "Planet Alignment" is when certain planets line up. It seems that there is to be a four planet alignment this September with 4 planets in the cross symbol. There may be one on May 5th next year too but with all the planets. Conjunction of Moon and Planets has happened before and there has not been a Disaster.

Here is a wonderful graphic of the planet alignments August 11th.

We know that the Bible tells us to look to the skies and heavens for signs. We don't know exactly what the sign means but it is indeed a sign of some sort.

"Planetary conjunctions (meetings) occur frequently because the planets
are all in motion around the sun at different speeds. Saturn and Jupiter
are the slowest of the planets and they pass each other every 17 years
or so. Obviously, the other planets may well pass this pair during the
year or so that they are together in the sky. These planetary
conjunctions are therefore of no real significance except for their
beauty. I saw a very spectacular cross-shaped alignment in 1972."

July 31st - I am still looking for a better link for this. Please remember that not all of the items on these outside links are what I believe. I have been hearing that there will be a planetary Cross made by 4 of the planets. On August 11th a planetary cross will surround the Earth during a Total Eclipse of the Sun. The planets will be positioned in LION, EAGLE, OX and MAN, the creatures of the apocalypse. They are the Ezekiel's 4 beasts and are also mentioned numerous times in the book of Revelations.

"The mission of Biblical Astronomy is to study and research signs in the heavens that are relevant to Biblical prophecy and make the research available for others to study and consider."

Is Astronomy the same thing as Astrology? & What does the Bible say about Astronomy?

Easton's Bible Dictionary tells us this about "Astronomy" -
"The Hebrews were devout students of the wonders of the starry firmanent (Amos 5:8; Ps. 19). In the Book of Job, which is the oldest book of the Bible in all probability, the constellations are distinguished and named. Mention is made of the "morning star" (Rev. 2:28; comp. Isa. 14:12), the "seven stars" and "Pleiades," "Orion," "Arcturus," the "Great Bear" (Amos 5:8; Job 9:9; 38:31), "the crooked serpent," Draco (Job 26:13), the Dioscuri, or Gemini, "Castor and Pollux" (Acts 28:11). The stars were called "the host of heaven" (Isa. 40:26; Jer. 33:22).

The oldest divisions of time were mainly based on the observation of the movements of the heavenly bodies, the "ordinances of heaven" (Gen. 1:14-18; Job 38:33; Jer. 31:35; 33:25). Such observations led to the division of the year into months and the mapping out of the appearances of the stars into twelve portions, which received from the Greeks the name of the "zodiac." The word "Mazzaroth" (Job 38:32) means, as the margin notes, "the twelve signs" of the zodiac. Astronomical observations were also necessary among the Jews in order to the fixing of the proper time for sacred ceremonies, the "new moons," the "passover," etc. Many allusions are found to the display of God's wisdom and power as seen in the starry heavens (Ps. 8; 19:1-6; Isa. 51:6, etc.)."

Nave's Topical Bible tell us this about "Astronomy" -

  • General scriptures concerning - Job 26:7,13; 37:18; 38:31-33; Psalms 8:3; 19:1-6; 68:33; 136:5-9; Isaiah 13:10; 40:22,26; 47:13; Jeremiah 31:35-37; 33:22; Amos 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:41; Jude 1:13
  • SIDEREAL PHENOMENA - Joshua 10:12-14; Job 9:6-9; Ecclesiastes 1:5; Isaiah 13:13; 34:4; Ezekiel 32:7,8; Matthew 24:29,35; 27:45; Mark 13:24,25; Luke 21:25; 23:44,45; Acts 2:19,20; 2 Peter 3:10; Revelation 6:12-14; 8:10-12; 9:1,2; 10:1,2; 12:3,4; 13:13; 16:8,9; 19:11-14; 21:1

The World Book Encyclopedia tells us:
Brief History of Astrology - At first, astrologers studied the heavenly bodies in making general predictions about the future. But between 600 B.C. and 200 B.C., they developed the system of casting individual horoscopes. The ancient Greeks and Romans practiced astrology and greatly influenced its development. The Roman names for the planets and the signs of the zodiac are still used today.

Interest in astrology declined in Europe with the coming of Christianity as people sought guidance from religious leaders rather than from astrologers. Astrology regained popularity during the A.D. 1100's. By the 1600's, it was particularly strong in England. Several astrological almanacs were published, and many other books either defended or attacked astrology. The number of followers of astrology fell in England during the 1700's, but the subject's popularity returned again in the early 1800's. By the late 1800's and early 1900's, interest in astrology had spread to many other nations.

Nave's Topical Bible says:
Astrology - General scriptures concerning
Isaiah 47:13 - "Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, (astrologers: Heb. viewers of the heavens ) the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee."
Jeremiah 10:1,2; Daniel 1:20; 2:27; 4:7; 5:7

Read what Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology says about Astrology.

Easton's Bible Dictionary says
Astrologer - (Dan. 1:20; 2:2, 10, 27, etc.) Heb. 'ashshaph', an enchanter, one who professes to divine future events by the appearance of the stars. This science flourished among the Chaldeans. It was positively forbidden to the Jews (Deut. 4:19; 18:10; Isa. 47:13).
Stargazers - (Isa. 47:13), those who pretend to tell what will occur by looking upon the stars. The Chaldean astrologers "divined by the rising and setting, the motions, aspects, colour, degree of light, etc., of the stars."

What are the references in the book of Revelations to the sun the moon & the stars?
"And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind."
~Revelations 6:12-13~

"And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise."
~Revelations 8:12~

"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:"
~Revelations 12:1~

"And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof."
~Revelations 21:23~

"And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born."
~Revelations 12-4~

What does Revelations 12 tell us?
I have heard and read recently that in September 1999 we will "literally" see the images described in Revelations 12. That is pretty amazing. But is it really possible? Could it be that simple?

Lets look and see what we can learn about this together. You can look up the meanings of the constellations here: The 88 Recognized Constellations

Can you find "Signs of the Times" in the Bible?
I did a search for the words:

~Luke 21:25-27~

Today ponder what the "signs of them times" mean. Do you remember this saying: "pink sky at night is a sailors delight -- pink sky in the morning sailors take warning"? If the sun went black would you know what is suppose to happen next????

Matthew 24:3, "Christ’s disciples asked him, "What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? The Saviour then proceeded to describe those world events which would both indicate His return and culminate in the Day of the Lord."

All right, what can we expect? We know that the Lord will indeed return one day soon. Will it be tomorrow? Will it be the day of a fall feast? Will it be on the Solar Eclipse? I truly don't know for certain. Remember that the Lord told us that no one knows the exact time BUT we are suppose to know the signs and the season.

Are you ready for His return? Will you be found waiting and looking in anticipation?

Don't put off getting your heart right with the Lord. Life is too short and uncertain. You don't know what tomorrow will bring. So many things are happening every day that are certainly part of the end times. Can His return be much longer?

"And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up,
and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh."
~Luke 21:28~

Stop right now. Search your heart. If you are not ready for the Lord's return then now is the time to change that. Ask the Lord to forgive you for your sins.

1 John 1:9 is written to believers and says: "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

We are not perfect as Christians. We have a perfect Savior. We have the assurance that we are forgiven. We are given the wonderful gift by the GRACE of GOD.

Jesus told a parable of the workers harvesting in the field. Some started their work early in the morning and some late in the day. Others only worked for an hour BUT they were all paid the SAME wage. All the workers were treated equally.

God only promises us today. You never know what tomorrow will bring. The HARVEST is soon. Make sure you are found ready.
