"Every
good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down
from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither
shadow of turning."
~James 1:17~
Do you long for a "pot of gold" of your own? Is your "pot of gold" an endless source? Does God supply your "pot of gold"? Is your "pot of gold" empty? Do you even have one?
I don't have a pot of gold myself. Now don't get me wrong, personally I wouldn't mind having a permanently full "visible" pot of gold that I could access endlessly. If you are a Christian you really do indeed have an endless source for ALL of your needs. Maybe you have forgotten that, though. It's easy to do sometimes. It's kind of like we get tunnel vision. We want to do things the easy way. We want the prize without going through all the work to get it. There is a much better prize to strive for then a pot of gold though.
Most people have heard the tales about a pot of gold under every rainbow. It is a fanciful tale, but instead of thinking about that pot of gold we should look to the rainbow instead. We need to remember that the Lord gave us the rainbow as a promise. It was a promise that He would never flood the earth again. The flood is the story of Noah and how God provided for his family and ALL of their needs even in that terrible ordeal. God has always provided for His people and is faithful to do the same for us.
Who is at the end of your rainbow?
Can you tell the Lord that you KNOW HE is the source of all your
needs?
Actually in a way He is like your pot of gold at the end of the
rainbow.
The Lord tells us that we are not to worry about tomorrow but unfortunately most of us do. I am no exception to the rule. So often instead of going FIRST to the Lord in prayer for ALL of our NEEDS, we don't. We tend to "try to fix the problem ALL BY OURSELVES". That is "not" what the Bible tells us to do. I know that it can be so easy to "limit" God and "put Him in a box". Maybe it is just the way that "everyone" does it. Instead of seeking the Lord we do what we THINK we should do to provide for our plans and needs. The Lord though tells us in His word that "His ways are not our ways and His thoughts not ours."
When we start becoming myopic we miss the perspective of the whole. We don't "see the forest for the trees" and we let little things overwhelm us. We tend to take things out of the Lord's perspective and try to squeeze them into our concept of our own small piece of the world. It always seems to come back to this: Either the Lord is in control or we are. You just can't have it both ways. Well let me clarify that. We can THINK that it works both ways and really actually believe it. BUT that is not living a life by and of FAITH!
The Bible tells us to look to the Ant for an example. It also tells us that the earth is the Lord's footstool. And if you look at the earth from space then it is so easy to stop and recheck your perspective on things. Things just don't seem as overwhelming when you get a different perspective or picture of things. Ultimately in the end what you worried about today probably isn't going to matter. But whether or not you TRUST in the Lord will.
Remember the story about Peter? When Jesus asked him THREE times the exact same question. I imagine Peter after the second time was pretty annoyed. Jesus didn't ask Peter if he TRUSTED in Him but He asked Peter instead "Lovest thou me?"
How do you
show whether you "lovest" the Lord? By worry and
fretting? I don't think that is the best way to show your love
for the Lord. Do you? By simply ignoring what the Bible says and
doing it your way isn't showing that you LOVE and TRUST the Lord.
That way just won't do either. So how do you show that you
"lovest" the Lord? By TRUSTING His plan and purpose. By
seeking Him for not just the big problems but for the every day
decisions you make.
I don't know about your life or the circumstances that you are in. BUT if you were asked this question what would you say? Do you TRUST the LORD? Well of course you and I both would say: Yes I trust the Lord. Now how about this next question. Do you trust Him in ALL THINGS? Well NO is probably the right answer. But stop just a moment. Do you REALLY TRUST the Lord to provide for ALL of your NEEDS? You probably don't. It always seems easier to trust the Lord in the BIG things and not the everyday things.
"The LORD shall
open unto thee his good treasure,
the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to
bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many
nations, and thou shalt not borrow."
~Deuteronomy 28:12~
"And
wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and
strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure."
~Isaiah 33:6~
"Now
therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant,
then ye shall be a peculiar treasure
unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:"
~Exodus 19:5~
Do you believe in "GOOD
LUCK"????
Is
there really a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow?
Is the grass always greener on the other side?
Do you need to "cross" your fingers for good luck?
I don't believe in LUCK. I believe in Divine Appointments by God. I believe that God cares so much about me that He counts every one of my tears (Psalm 56:8) and He knew me before I was even born (Psalm 139). He knows everything that I have done and will do yet He still gives me "free will" and loves me "unconditionally". He can and will do that for you too if you let Him.
What is in that pot of gold that you are striving for?
What would you like to be in that pot of gold?
Do you even know what would make you happy and content?
If you won the multi million lottery tomorrow would you do
anything differently?
So often we place our self worth and esteem on "what we
do" and "what we have" instead of who we are as a
believer. Life is just temporal and fleeting. You can't take that
pot of gold with you to heaven. No suitcases or pots allowed!!!!
The Bible tells us where our treasure is and should be! Actually this is so important that it is repeat the exact same way in two different verses!!
"For
where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also."
~Matthew 6:21 & Luke 12:34~
What
kind of treasure are you?
What does your heart tell others about you? Do you have a kind
heart?
Are you an old coin or a treasured diamond or ruby?
Have you ever read this verse before?
"But my God shall supply
all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ
Jesus."
~Philippines 4:19~
Have you pondered and meditated on it? What I find so amazing about that verse is one very small word. The word that is so compelling is the word "ALL". The Lord will provide ALL our needs. Not just most of them and leave the rest for us to take care of. Isn't that just amazing? It doesn't say MOST of your NEEDS or just the BIG ones either. It does however assure us that the Lord will provide for ALL our needs. WOW!!!
I don't know about
you but it is sure hard sometimes to "trust" the Lord
to provide for us in and for ALL things. Why is it that when we
get worried and lack trust that the Lord wants and expects from
us we seem to be like a person drowning in the shallow end of the
pool. We thrash around and back and forth and run out of breath
and if we would just STOP and listen and PRAY it would all work
out the best way. It is when we go through the big problems that
our courage shows through. But it is our fear and lack of trust
that comes through when we are overwhelmed in the little tedious
daily problems that endure. We need to remember that there is
nothing too small for the Lord to take care. He really can handle
anything". Always remember that we can't limit the Lord or
put Him in box. He knows what will happen and why long before we
ever will. We just need to remember yet again to TRUST in the
LORD and NOT ourselves.
When we wake up in the morning, most people don't stop and think what to do immediately. Every day putting our feet on the ground and standing up is a natural response. It has become a routine because you do it every day. We seem to do it without thinking. That is the way our walk with the Lord should be. We should automatically send up a fast "help me" prayer when things are difficult and overwhelming. We should also be praying and reading the Bible in a regular "quiet time" each day. You can't quote scripture as the Lord showed us to do in battle if you have never memorized them. So make sure you set up a weekly memory verse program. Evidentially, what you do on a daily basis will start to become a regular routine and you won't have to "think" about what you need to do.
"Every
man also to whom God hath given riches and wealth, and hath given
him power to eat thereof, and to take his portion, and to rejoice
in his labour; this is the gift of God."
~Ecclesiastes 5:19~
"The
blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow
with it."
~Proverbs 10:22~

"Freely you have received, freely give." ~Matthew 10:8b~
Now as you look at all your treasures remember to see them the way that the Lord sees them. As temporal and not to be worshiped. For "where your treasure is there your heart will be also." Your salvation as a Christian is the BEST and most PERFECT gift that the Lord could have given you. He sacrificed His ONLY son to die for your sins and to atone for those sins. None of us was worthy of that gift yet it is offered to us freely. Have you accepted that FREE GIFT? If not then you need to stop and ponder why you haven't. For it is ONLY by the GRACE of God that we have a FUTURE and A HOPE. It is because of the Lord Jesus who was the perfect sacrifice.
He offers an immeasurable gift that is the only one you need really need. His gift is like a treasure chest of overflowing presents. Every treasure chest must have a key to open it. Pretty much there is a key to just about everything. There is also a simple key to becoming a Christian too.
