"Casting
all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
~1 Peter 5:7~
I
have a wonderful Daily Devotional Book that is written
specifically for people that
deal with chronic pain and illness. It is a great book but as I
understand it is
out of print. I have shared a few of the daily devotionals that
have blessed
me or touched my heart from time to time. I read a devotional the
other day
and felt that I needed to share it with you all. It really
blessed and
encouraged me and I hope it does you too~!!!

"Therefore I take pleasure in
infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions,
in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I
strong."
~2 Corinthians 12:10~
The gold chain holding my
grandfather's railroad retirement pin was fragile, and it
broke easily. I wore it around my neck every day, and it often
got caught in my
clothing. If I pulled on it accidently, a weak spot in the
delicate links would give
way. After taking it to the jeweler several times and having the
broken ends
soldered together, I noticed that it never broke in the same
place twice. Once
broken and repaired, one small area was stronger then the entire
rest of
the necklace that had never been broken.
"The world breaks
everyone," wrote Ernest Hemingway, "and afterward
many are strong at the broken places."
If I let Him, God will invade this
weakness of illness and make me strong in the area
that I feel the most vulnerable. In Him, my life can have a
powerful
effect on others for Christ's sake.
Simone Weil wrote, "The extreme
greatness of Christianity lies in the fact
that it does not seek a supernatural remedy for suffering
but a supernatural use for it."
Prayer from Devotional Book: Lord, I
am weak today; make me strong. I am hurting
today; heal my sadness. I am broken today; mend my grief. Living
with illness is
hard, Lord; lift me up. Take my suffering and use it today.

"Come
unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give

Take my yoke upon you,

heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my
yoke is easy, and my
burden is light."
